How it Happened
- Both teams were scoreless after the first period Friday night in Columbus. The Buckeyes dominated puck possession in the opening frame and outshot the Tommies 12-3 in the first 20 minutes of play.
- A game misconduct and five-minute major penalty for head contact was called on Mira Jungåker with 2:29 on the clock in the first. Ohio State killed off the penalty and held St. Thomas without a shot on the five-minute player advantage, returning to full strength with 17:29 to play in the second period.
- St. Thomas scored the first goal of the game at 11:11 in the second period to take the 1-0 lead. Ohio State continued to pressure Tommie goaltender Julia Minotti, but she stopped all 16 Buckeye shots in the frame.
- Jocelyn Amos put Ohio State on the board at 7:58 in the third period, knocking a rebounded shot from Hilda Svensson into the St. Thomas net.
- The game went to overtime tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and Amos, Dunne and Matthews started the 3-on-3 extra period for the Buckeyes.
- The trio needed just one possession to win the game. Dunne fed the puck to Amos in front of the Tommies goal and Amos skated around Minotti for the wide-open goal, lighting the lamp 38 seconds into overtime.
- Amos' two-goal game is her third of the season and second in as many series. The overtime goal is the first of her career.
- Friday was the Buckeyes' second overtime game of the season. Both have been against St. Thomas.
- Freshman goaltender Taylor Kressin made nine saves in her second consecutive start for the Buckeyes to improve to 6-0-0 on the year.
