COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's hockey team returned to action Friday, skating to a 2-2 overtime tie against Bowling Green in the Schottenstein Center.

The Buckeyes (6-10-1) and Falcons (8-5-4) will close the weekend series at 6:07 p.m. Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio. The game will be streamed by Midco Sports Plus.

The Buckeyes led 1-0 after the first period on a Jake Dunlap goal and 2-0 through the second after a Riley Thompson power play tally. Bowling Green scored at 4:41 and 8:53 of the third to tie the game and neither team scored the rest of the way. In an exhibition shootout, Ohio State won, 1-0, in six rounds with James Hong tallying the only goal.

How it Happened
- With four minutes left in the first period, Jake Dunlap gave the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead. Ryan Gordon won a defensive zone faceoff forward and Dunlap raced to the puck, setting up a 2-on-1 and he scored from the left wing.
- Shots were 11-7 in favor of Ohio State in the opening period and the Buckeyes were 2-for-2 on the penalty kill, not allowing a shot during the BG chances. Ohio State ended the period on a 5x3 power play, with 1:33 of the two-man advantage carrying into the second.
- In the second, Riley Thompson scored on a rebound of a Jake Karabela attempt with the Buckeyes on the power play. Davis Burnside had the second assist on the goal, which came at 7:16.
- The teams combined for 24 shots in the second, with the Falcons ahead, 14-10.
- In the third, Bowling Green tallied at 4:41 to get on the board and then tied the game at 8:53.
- The Falcons had the edge in shots in the third, 12-9. Ohio State had a power play chance that carried over into the overtime.
- Each team put one shot on net in the extra five minutes, but neither was able to score, with the game ending in a 2-2 tie.
- An exhibition shootout followed. The only goal came to close out round six, with James Hong tallying for the Buckeyes. Buckeye goalie Kristoffer Eberly had five saves in the shootout, with the other BG shot wide.
