COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State field hockey team (2-2) was defeated by No.11 Syracuse (4-0), 2-1, in double overtime to close out the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Sunday.

Game Recap

The first half was a battle between the Ohio State and Syracuse defenses, and the teams went into halftime scoreless. Goalkeeper Maddie Stevens had one save in the second quarter, and Madeline Bogle had a defensive save.
Syracuse scored 43 seconds in the third quarter to take a 1-0 lead over the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes answered at the 41:50 mark, with Katie Fichtner scoring on a penalty corner to tie the game, 1-1. Makenna Webster and Riley Hudson earned the assists.
Stevens had two saves in the fourth quarter to keep the Orange off the board and send the game into overtime.
The Buckeyes had the lone shot of the first overtime period, but it missed the mark and the score remained tied, 1-1.
Stevens made a big save about four minutes into the second overtime period, but the Orange were able to score a little over one minute later to earn the 2-1 overtime victory.
