COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 22 Ohio State women’s soccer team will open Big Ten play on Friday night by hosting Michigan. First touch is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on B1G+.
Fans are encouraged to wear red in an effort to Scarlet Out the Jesse on Friday. There will also be inflatables before the match as well as a post-match meeting and greet.
Admission and parking are free for all women’s soccer home matches.
- The teams have meet each of the last nine seasons and the all-time series is dead even 15-15-6.
- The Buckeyes have won four of the last five meetings and have not lost to the Wolverines since 2019.
- Each of the last nine matches in the series have either ended in a tie or been a one-goal match.
- Last season, Michigan jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but then the Buckeyes scored two second half goals to take a 2-1 victory in Ann Arbor on Sept. 29. Amanda Schlueter evened the score in the 62nd minute and then Kailyn Dudukovich provided the game-winner in the 86th minute.
- Ohio State has won four consecutive matches and finished non-conference play at 4-1-1.
- The Buckeyes are 11-13-7 in Big Ten openers. Last season, they beat Indiana 3-0 behind a pair of goals from Dudukovich and a goal from Schlueter.
- Ohio State is coming off a 2-0 victory last Sunday at Kentucky. Schleuter, the lone Kentucky native on the roster, scored a goal in the fourth minute and then capped the match in the 82nd minute with her second goal of the match.
- Schlueter leads the team with five goals and two assists on the season.
- Schlueter now has 21 goals and 21 assists in her career, becoming the sixth player in program history with 20 career goals and 20 career assists.
- The Buckeyes have allowed just three goals on just 13 shots on goal through the first six matches.
- Senior captain Molly Pritchard has a 0.53 goals-against average in net this season. She is fourth in program history with 238 career saves.
- Michigan enters the match at 3-4-0 overall. The Wolverines snapped a four-match losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Youngstown State last Sunday.
