Six Buckeyes Qualify for USA Championships

All five Buckeyes who competed this weekend at the USA Qualifier will move on to the USA Championships, joining one previous qualifier.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five Buckeyes competed in the USA Qualifier this past weekend, all qualifying for the USA Championships in August. Kristian Grahovski, Kameron Nelson, Jesse Pakele, David Ramirez and Parker Thackston all punched their tickets and will join Drake Andrews who previously qualified with his performance at the Winter Cup in February. Â

Andrews, Grahovski, Pakele and Ramirez will each compete in the all-around competition, while Nelson (floor, rings, vault, high bar) and Thackston (pommel horse) will compete as event specialists.

Below are the Buckeyes' highlights from the USA Qualifiers, with the full results available HERE.
- Pakele finished third (77.600) in the all-around competition, with top 10 finishes in four events – rings (third, 13.100), floor (fourth, 13.650), pommel horse (13.050) and parallel bars (13.000).
- Ramirez finished fifth (76.150) in the all-around competition, placing in the top 10 on both high bar (13.150, fifth) and parallel bars (13.050, eighth).
- Grahovski finished sixth (75.200) in the all-around competition with top 10 finishes in three events – high bar (13.350, third), rings (12.250, ninth) and pommel horse (12.850, 10th).
- Nelson earned the highest vault score of the competition (14.981) and had the fifth-highest rings score (12.700).
- Thackston recorded the highest pommel horse score of the competition (14.400).
