
Ohio State Places 12 on CSC Academic All-District At-Large List

Standouts represent nine sports
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Twelve Ohio State standouts have earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for at-large sports, CSC announced Tuesday. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 grade-point average at their current institution and must be in at least their second collegiate season. Â
The Ohio State honorees are Damien Carfagna (men's hockey), Faith Choi (women's golf), Dylan D'Emilio (wrestling), Leandra Hogrefe (women's rowing), Kary Hollenbaugh (women's golf), Alina Lee (women's fencing), Solin Li (men's fencing), Gannon Matthews (men's lacrosse), Dasha Myroniuk (women's fencing), Kameron Nelson (men's gymnastics), Emma Peschel (women's ice hockey) and Parker Thackston (men's gymnastics), Â

Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced for the women July 8 and for the men July 9.Â
Men's hockey defenseman Damien Carfagna earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Tournament team accolades before signing an entry-level contract with the NHL Edmonton Oilers as a free agent following the season. He had 28 points, with seven goals and 21 assists, along with 68 shot blocks and just three minor penalties, ranking fourth in scoring and blocks among Big Ten defensemen. The Buckeyes reached the Big Ten Tournament final and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA tournament. Â
Wrestler Dylan D'Emilio earned All-America honors after finishing fourth at this year's NCAA Championships and was also an All-American in 2023. An Academic All-Big Ten honoree, D'Emilio is a four-time NCAA qualifier and was fifth at this year's Big Ten Championships, his fourth straight Top 8 finish.Â
Women's rower Leandra Hogrefe is a 2025 First Team All-Big Ten selection. She helped the First Varsity Eight to a grand final appearance at the conference championship and three regular season wins. The physics major is an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Â
Two women's golfers, Kary Hollenbaugh and Faith Choi, were selected to the Acadedmic All-District Team. Hollenbaugh, a junior earned Golfweek First Team All-America and Women's Golf Coaches Association Second Team All-America honors. Hollenbaugh was the silver medalist at the Big Ten Championships and was a First Team All-Big Ten selection. She won four events during the season, which is tied for the most in a single season in program history. A senior, Choi was the NCAA Elite 90 Award recipient after maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She was the 10th Ohio State student-athlete and first Buckeye women's golfer to earn the Elite 90 Award. Choi was an All-Big Ten Second Team selection. She finished in the top 10 in four tournaments this season and tied for 10th place at the Big Ten Championships. Â
Women's fencers Alina Lee and Dasha Myroniuk were both recognized after helping lead the Buckeyes to the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference team and foil crowns. Lee finished fifth at the NCAA fencing championships this year to earn Second Team All-America accolades. She was third at NCAA Regionals and posted a 51-14 dual mark. A four-time NCAA qualifier, Lee was a 2022 Honorable Mention All-American, as well as a three-time First Team All-CCFC selection and a two-time all-region honoree. Myroniuk was the 2025 CCFC women's foil champion and recorded a 60-20 mark in dual bouts. She was a First Team All-American in 2024 and a second team honoree in 2023. In all, Myroniuk won three conference foil titles and was a three-time First Team All-CCFC selection, as well as a two-time all-region honoree.Â
Solin Li, a men's foil fencer, was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2025, finishing 11th at the NCAA Championships in his first appearance. A bronze medalist at NCAA Regionals, he is a two-time First Team All-CCFC selection and a 2025 Second Team All-Midwest Region honoree. Li was the silver medalist at the CCFC individual championships and the Buckeye men claimed the team and foil titles. Â
Men's lacrosse's Gannon Matthews finished the 2025 season as an Honorable Mention USILA All-American. He helped the Buckeyes to a historic campaign in which they won the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships for the first time in program history and secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022. Matthews started every game for the Buckeyes and tallied 25 points on 18 goals and seven assists and picked up eight ground balls on the year. Matthews, who is now playing professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League, capped off his Ohio State career with Academic All-Big Ten honors. Â
The duo of men's gymnasts Kameron Nelson and Parker Thackston both earned regular season CGA All-America honors and NCAA All-America honors this past season, Nelson on floor and vault and Thackston on pommel horse. Nelson captured NCAA and Big Ten vault titles this season, was a finalist for the Nissen Emery Award and made international history by becoming the first in the world to compete two triple backs in a single floor routine. In his career, Nelson is a six-time NCAA All-American, three-time CGA regular season All-American, two-time Big Ten vault champion and four-time All-Big Ten honoree. Thackston is a two-time All-American on pommel horse, both during the regular season and at the NCAA Championships, in addition to being a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and two-time Big Ten pommel horse runner-up. Nelson and Thackston have each been an OSU Scholar Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten selection in each of the seasons they were eligible. Â
Emma Peschel of the women's hockey team earned Second Team All-America honors. She skated in every game for the Buckeyes, leading the blue line with 34 points on 26 assists and eight goals and blocking a team-high 42 shots. Peschel earned First Team All-WCHA recognition and was a member of the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team. She finished the academic year earning WCHA Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic Team honors and Academic All-Big Ten recognition. Â
