
Three Buckeyes Named All-Big Ten, Tucker Coach of the Year

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State tennis team have earned All-Big Ten accolades and director of tennis Ty Tucker has been named Coach of the Year for the record 18th time.
Jack Anthrop, Alexander Bernard and Aidan Kim were all named to the first team. For Anthrop and Bernard, this is their second time earning first team honors. Brandon Carpico was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Kim earned All-America honors in the fall by reaching the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship. He is 16-10 on the season and has 11 wins over ranked opponents. In doubles, he is 13-9 overall and has 10 wins at the No. 1 spot.
Anthrop has been on a great run this spring. He has won 15 consecutive matches and was a perfect 12-0 in Big Ten singles matches. This spring, he has lost just one dual singles match as he’s 22-1 overall. This is his second All-Big Ten honor.
Bernard earns his third All-Big Ten nod as he was a first team honoree as a freshman and a second team honoree last season. He took a jump to the top of the lineup this spring and has produced. He has 18 singles wins with seven coming against ranked opponents.
Carpico has a team-best 44 combined wins on the season. He is a remarkable 32-5 in doubles, including a 20-4 mark with fellow freshman Nikita Filin. In the fall, he won the doubles titles at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the Fighting Irish Mini Duals and was runner-up at the Big Ten Doubles Championship. In singles this spring, he’s a perfect 6-0.
For Tucker, his reign at the top of the Big Ten continued again this season. He led the Buckeyes to a 13-0 B1G record and a 19th consecutive title. Since the consecutive title streak started in 2006, Ohio State is a remarkable 201-2 in conference play. Overall, the team has been ranked in the Top 6 all season and has a record of 24-2.
Redshirt-junior Reece Yakubov was named the team’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner for the second-consecutive season. The Upper Arlington, Ohio native has a pair of singles and doubles wins this season and the Biology major earned his fourth OSU Scholar-Athlete award.
