COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior midfielder Gannon Matthews of the Ohio State men's lacrosse team was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Matthews spurred the team's five-goal run in the final five and a half minutes of Saturday's 10-8 win at Michigan. He scored the first two and final goals of the run to help the Buckeyes overcome a three-goal deficit to beat the Wolverines and win the Big Ten regular season title for the first time in program history.
The hat trick was his first of the season and his first in Big Ten Conference play of his Buckeye career.
The Eagle, Idaho native has recorded at least a point in the Buckeyes' last seven games and a goal in six of the last seven contests.
