No. 4 Buckeyes Win Outright B1G Title, Beat Indiana 4-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4 Ohio State continued its run over Indiana, beating the Hoosiers for the 28th consecutive time with a 4-0 victory on Friday night inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The win gives the Buckeyes the outright Big Ten title as they are now 23-2 on the season and 12-0 in Big Ten play. They will look to complete the undefeated Big Ten season on Sunday vs. Purdue.
Ohio State breezed to the doubles points and then won all six opening sets in singles. They would get three quick singles wins and end the match in under two hours.
This is the 19th consecutive Big Ten title for the Buckeyes and the 22nd in program history.
Doubles
- The Buckeyes jumped out to a one break lead on courts two and three at 4-2 and then took their first break lead on court one at 5-3.
- The first win came on court one as Will Jansen and Aidan Kim collected their 10th win of the season as the beat Jip Van Assendelft and Michael Andre 6-3.
- The next two courts were in another race. Both were on match point at the same time and the first to finish were freshmen Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin on court two. They beat Sam Scherer and Matteo Antonescu 6-2 to improve to 20-3 on the year.
Singles
- The Buckeyes were dominant again in singles. Will Jansen claimed the second point with his 6-1, 6-3 win over Benjamin Pomeranets on court three.
- Jack Anthrop won yet again on court four, besting Braeden Gelletich 6-3, 6-0 for his 14th consecutive victory.
- The clinching win came from Chris Li on court five. He took down Karen Raghavendra 6-3, 6-0
- Aidan Kim was up 5-1 in the second and just a game away from beating Deacon Thomas on court two.
Up Next
Ohio State will close the regular season on Sunday afternoon by hosting Purdue. The match is scheduled to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex at 2 p.m. The match will follow the Ohio State women’s match, which begins 11 a.m.
