COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men's lacrosse players Caleb Fyock and Bobby Van Buren have been named nominees for the 2025 Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday.
The Buckeye duo is among 25 men's nominees for the preeminent lacrosse award that annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committee is comprised of premier college coaches and is appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Fyock and Van Buren lead a Buckeye defense that ranks in the top 10 nationally in goals against and has held opponents to single digits in eight games this season. Their efforts have helped the No. 6 Buckeyes to an 11-2 overall record and 3-1 ledger in Big Ten play in 2025.
Fyock, a sophomore goalie, has earned an 11-1 record on the year for the Buckeyes. He leads the Big Ten with a .612 save percentage. His save percentage and goals against average (7.55) rank third nationally. The Bowie, Md. native averages 10.69 saves per game and has made double digit saves in eight games this season, including a career high 19 in the win over Rutgers.
Van Buren, a captain at close defense for the Buckeyes this season, has caused 13 turnovers and picked up 18 ground balls on the year. The senior from Wingate, N.C., who typically draws the top matchup, has stifled some of the nation's most prolific scorers.
Five men's and women's finalists will be selected and announced at the conclusion of the regular season on May 8. The men's nominees include players from 15 different schools. Ohio State is one of seven schools with multiple nominees.
