COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeyes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes Buckeye student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

- At her first NCAA Championships, Botello finished tied for third in women's sabre.
- She was 17-5 in the preliminary rounds to earn the No. 2 seed and a spot in the semifinals.
- Botello earned First Team All-America accolades with her Top 4 finish.
- This year, she was the silver medalist at the NCAA Regional Championships and captured the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference individual title.
- She helped the Buckeyes to a sixth-place finish as a team.
- Amelia Figler obliterated her 1500m personal record this past weekend at the USF Invite to open the outdoor track and field season.
- Her new time of 4:33.50 was over 20 seconds better than her previous PR of 4:54.76, which ironically occurred at last year's USF Invite.
- Fyock made a career high tying 17 saves in the Buckeyes' 13-9 road win over No. 4 Penn State Sunday.
- He earned a .654 save percentage in the game and held the Nittany Lions to under 10 goals for the first time this season.
- The sophomore goalie's performance helped the Buckeyes to their ninth straight win and first at Penn State since 2015.
- The win propelled the Buckeyes to No. 3 in the national rankings, tying the program's highest ranking and first time since 2017 the team has been voted third in the country.
- Hit .429 in a pair of road matches at No. 8 Loyola Chicago and No. 15 Lewis

- Ohio State, which is ranked No. 22 in this week's NFCA poll, plays five home games this week, beginning on Tuesday vs. Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Earned his second national championship at 141 pounds with win over Brock Hardy of Nebraska
- Defeated Beau Bartlett of Penn State in semifinals … defeated Bartlett for 2024 national championship
- Earned All-America status for third-consecutive season
- Became 14th individual national champion for Tom Ryan, head coach of the Buckeyes
- Nikanorov earned First Team All-American honors in both the 500 free and the 1650 free at the NCAA Championships.
- In the 500 free, she placed sixth with a time of 4:36.38, which is a program record.
- She also placed sixth in the 1650 free, finishing in 15:51.95.
- The Buckeyes placed 14th overall at the NCAA Championships.
- Vetter was one of two Buckeyes to be named to the 2025 Big Ten Women's Gymnastics All-Championships team.
- She scored two 9.900s at the conference championship meet, earning the score on floor and uneven bars.
- She finished second in the session in the all-around with a 39.350.
- Her efforts helped the Buckeyes win the first session of the conference championship and finish seventh overall.
- Tanner Watson tossed the third-best discus distance of 56.49m/185'4" at the USF Invite this past weekend.
- Watson's throw gave him the 19th nationally ranked spot in the event according to TFRRS.
- In the first regatta of the season and first for head coach Emily Gackowski, the 3V8 earned a win over No. 10 Syracuse at the Big Ten/IVY Dust Up in New Jersey
- Coxswain-Alessandra Flevares; Stroke-Olivia Stockmaster; 7-Hayden Allen; 6-Tess Manning; 5-Paige Guggenbiller; 4-Lilly Orosz; 3-Kailey Burns; 2-Kaylee Robbins and Bow-Leah Dragmen rowed the Buckeyes to victory
- Ohio State is home this weekend in a double dual with Michigan against Virginia and Oklahoma at the Griggs Reservoir. Racing starts at 9 a.m. (B1G+).
