Nikanorov Sets Program Record, Earns First Team All-American Honors in 500 Free

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team turned in two All-American performances on the second day of the NCAA Championships in Federal Way, Wash. on Thursday.
Freshman Mila Nikanorov had a stellar day for the Buckeyes, earning First Team All-American honors in the 500 free and breaking a program record two times. Nikanorov initially broke the 500 free record in prelims with a time of 4:37.10, which earned her a spot in the evening's A final. In finals, Nikanorov placed sixth, knocking almost a full second off her earlier record to finish in 4:36.38.
The Buckeyes closed out the night with an Honorable Mention All-American performance in the 200 free relay. The relay team of Teresa Ivan, Nyah Funderburke, Erin Little and Rachel Bockrath placed 16th with a time of 1:28.01.
After two days of competition, the Buckeyes are in 18th place with 23 points.
The NCAA Championships continue Friday, March 21-Saturday, March 22 in Federal Way, Wash. Prelims will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET each day and finals will get underway at 9:00 p.m. ET each day.
