COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State opens 2025 NCAA competition Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia with a representative in each of the 10 weight classes that will battle to determine champions in the team and individual competitions.Â

- Ohio State enters the 2025 NCAA Championships with 10 qualifiers marking the ninth time in Tom Ryan's tenure as head coach Ohio State has sent nine or more. In the event this year, Ohio State is one of four teams with a representative in each of the 10 weight classes. Just four schools have 10 wrestlers competing in Philadelphia this week (Ohio State, Cornell, Northern Iowa and Penn State).Â
- The No. 7 Buckeyes entered the 2025 Big Ten Championships after completing the dual season with a 13-3 record overall and a 5-3 record vs. Big Ten foes.
- The Buckeyes finished in the No. 6 position in the 2025 league championships with 95.5 points. Redshirt freshman Brandon Cannon, the No. 8 seed, finished second at 157 with a 3-1 record in his first league tournament. Â
- Tom Ryan, now in his 19th year at Ohio State, has sent 157 Buckeyes to the NCAA Championships. In nine seasons, the Buckeyes have sent nine or more (9/2009-13-17-23-24 and 10/2015-18-19-25) to the final weekend. The 2020 Championship was canceled (Covid).Â
- Ryan has produced 73 All-Americans during his tenure with the Buckeyes, including an Ohio State record of eight in 2018.Â
- By weight, Ryan has coached 18 NCAA qualifiers at 141 pounds with five NCAA Champions (Jaggers-2, Stieber-2, Mendez-1). Seventeen have qualified at 149, 174 and 184.Â
- Ohio State has won 13 individual national titles in six weight classes under Ryan's direction (125-1, 133-2, 141-4, 174-1, 184-1, HWT-3).Â
- The Buckeyes have produced 10 or more NCAA qualifiers in each of the 10 weight classes four times during Ryan's tenure in Columbus. Â
