COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 Ohio State capped its first Big Ten west coast trip with a 4-1 win over Washington on Sunday afternoon in Seattle.
Coupled with a 4-0 win over Oregon on Friday, the Buckeyes now improve to 14-2 on the season and 3-0 in Big Ten play.
Like Friday night, the Buckeyes had little trouble with the double point. Washington was able to win on court one in singles, but the Buckeyes held their own on the other courts.
With his singles win on Sunday, Jack Anthrop claimed his 100th career win. He has 78 singles wins and 22 doubles victories.
Doubles
- The Buckeyes won the doubles point for the fifth consecutive match.
- Just like Friday night, OSU got doubles wins from Aidan Kim and Will Jansen on court one and Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin on court two.
- Kim and Jansen have now won three consecutive matches after an impressive 6-4 victory over the No. 55 team of Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn
- Carpico and Filin are now 14-2 on the year and have won their last eight matches. They beat Soham Purohit and Ivan Sodan 6-2 on Sunday.
Singles
- Filin, playing in his first singles match in a month, made the most of his opportunity as he bested Rohan Belday 6-1, 6-2.
- Jack Anthrop wasted little time in claiming his 100th career win as he rolled past Purohit 6-1, 6-3 on court three. He is now 13-1 in team dual matches this season spring.
- Washington then got a win on court one to make the score 3-1.
- With Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima both splitting their first sets, the clinching point would come from Preston Stearns on court five. Stearns took the opening set from Sodan 7-5 and then won a second-set tiebreaker 8-6 to give the Buckeyes their 14th win of the season.
