COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore goalie Caleb Fyock was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Fyock made a season-high 12 saves in the Buckeyes' 14-5 win over then-ranked No. 12 Virginia last Saturday at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. He added three ground balls in the game. His efforts helped the Buckeyes to their first win over the Cavaliers since the 2013 season and just the second in the all-time series.
The Bowie, Md. native improved to 5-0 in goal for Ohio State this season with the win over Virginia. He leads the Big Ten with a .667 save percentage and 4.88 goals-against average in six games played on the year.
The award is his first of his career. He earned Big Ten Freshman of Week honors twice last season.
Ohio State is back in action Saturday, March 1 against Bryant. First faceoff is set for noon from Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
