BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 8/8 Ohio State women's basketball team (22-4, 11-4 B1G) fell to Indiana (17-9, 9-6 B1G) by a 71-61 margin on Thursday evening on the road.
 
Indiana used a 6-0 run midway through the first quarter to build a 26-17 lead after 10 minutes. Ohio State battled back to tie the game at 26 but trailed 40-28 at halftime. The Hoosiers extended their lead to 57-39 after 30 minutes. The Buckeyes won the fourth quarter by a 22-14 mark but couldn't complete the comeback.
 
Cotie McMahon was the first Buckeye to reach double figures, doing so early in the second quarter and finishing with 14 points. Jaloni Cambridge (18) joined McMahon in double figures as all nine Buckeyes to see the court scored.
 
How it Happened
J. Cambridge opened the game's scoring at the free throw line and the teams traded points to begin the game. The score was tied at 11 amidst a 6-0 IU run that gave the Hoosiers a 14-11 lead. J. Cambridge responded to get the Buckeyes within one, but five unanswered Indiana points increased IU's lead to 21-15 with 3:48 to play in the quarter. The Hoosiers scored the final five points of the quarter to lead by a 26-17 margin after 10 minutes.
 
Ohio State scored the first nine points in the second quarter to tie the game at 26 on a McMahon steal and score with 7:30 remaining in the quarter. Indiana responded with the next eight points to take a 34-26 lead with 4:20 to play before halftime. The Hoosiers scored six unanswered points to end the half with the 40-28 advantage.
 
J. Cambridge hit a step-back three-pointer to begin the third quarter before back-to-back Indiana baskets. The Buckeyes called timeout trailing 47-33 with 6:12 remaining in the third and were down 52-36 at the media timeout. Indiana ended the quarter with a three-pointer to lead by a 57-39 margin after 30 minutes.
 
McMahon and J. Cambridge each scored a basket at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes strung together a 5-0 run and within 11 points at 62-51 on a three-pointer from Madison Greene. The Buckeyes got as close as eight on the back of a 9-0 run before falling 71-61.
