Klughardt leads Buckeyes with 19 wins in the event

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Elite Invitational hosted by Ohio State in French Field House wrapped up Sunday. The No. 6-ranked Buckeye women were 1-4 on the day and the No. 5 men were 0-4.

The women ended the two-day event 5-5 overall. Gloria Klughardt of the women's epee squad was a team-best 19-5 combined. Natalia Botello was first for women's sabre with a 17-4 ledger and Riyan Moradi-Bidhendi led the women's foil squad with 12 wins.

The men were 3-6 over the two days as a team. Epeeist Matthew Bülau and foilist Solin Li each posted 13 wins to lead their squads and Samuel Rightler and Carter Berrio were first for men's sabre with 10 wins apiece.

The Buckeye Women

Ohio State dropped team matches against Top 15 programs No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 4 Princeton, No. 13 North Carolina and No. 8 Duke, wrapping up the day with a victory over Denison.
Women's epee picked up two squad victories. Gloria Klughardt won 10-of-11 bouts on the day to lead the team.
In women's foil Masha Cojocari led the way with six wins Sunday.
Natalia Botello was first for the sabre squad with a 7-4 mark.

The Buckeye Men

The men fell to four Top 10 ranked teams – No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 4 Princeton, No. 10 North Carolina and No. 9 Duke.
The men's epee squad was a perfect 4-0 on the day. Nowell Gibson, Ayush Shah and Matthew Bülau each had four wins on day two of the Elite Invite.
In men's foil, Solin Li and Mitchell Huth were first with five wins each Sunday.
Samuel Rightler paced men's sabre with five victories.
