Western Invite Up Next for the Buckeyes

Team will compete Saturday and Sunday in Colorado
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State men's and women's fencing teams are headed to Colorado for the Western Invited hosted by Air Force Academy this weekend. The event is slated for Saturday and Sunday on the USAFA campus.Â
Video from Pods A, B and C will be available for both days and will be on the Air Force Youtube page. Fans planning to attend in person must fill out the base access visitor pass form.
Along with the Buckeyes, host Air Force welcomes Brandeis, Columbia, Denison, Incarnate Word, Northwestern, Stanford, UC San Diego and Tufts for the competition. In the women's preseason coaches' poll, Columbia was ranked second, with Northwestern No. 5, Ohio State No.6 and Stanford No. 9 among all programs, with Denison No. 3 and Brandeis No. 6 in Division III On the men's side among all teams, Columbia is ranked first, with Ohio State fifth, Stanford 11th and UC San Diego 15th, with Brandeis ranked fourth in Division III

The Buckeyes This Season
- Ohio State started the year with the OSU Open and Duals, with both the men and women 4-0 in the dual event. In the two-day Elite Invitational in Columbus Nov. 8-9, the Buckeye women were 5-5, while the men were 3-6.Â
- For the men, the epee squad leads the way with a 12-1 ledger. Foil is 7-6 and sabre is 6-7. On the women's side, Epee and sabre are both 9-5 and foil is 6-9.
- In dual events, foilist Solin Li paces the men with 24 victories. Carter Berrio and Samuel Rightler are first for sabre with 19 wins each and Sami Baumedienne, Matthew Buelau and Jakob all have 16 wins to rank first for epee.
- On the women's side, Natalia Botello in sabre and Gloria Klughardt in epee share the team lead with 24 wins each. Raiyan Moradi-Bidhendi leads foil with 13 victories.
- The Western Invite wraps up the 2025 portion of the Buckeye schedule. The squad will return to action with the St. John's Invitational in Queens, N.Y., Jan. 17 and the Dave Micahnik Penn Invitational in Philadelphia Jan. 18.
- The regular season ends Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Schiller Duals hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill.Â
- The CCFC Championships will be hosted by Denison in Granville, Ohio, Feb. 21-22.Â
- Cleveland State will host the NCAA Regionals March 8 and the NCAA Championships will be hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., March 19-22.Â
