COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Hockey Commissioners Association announced Thursday Hilda Svensson of the Ohio State women's hockey team as Co-Rookie of the Month. The award honors players' performance in September and October.
Svensson shares the award with Clarkson's Sara Manness as both freshmen tallied 15 points in the first two months of the season. Svensson recorded six multi-point games in nine games played in October, averaging 1.67 points per game. She currently leads rookies nationally with 18 points on the year.
In her first month of her collegiate career, she earned the WCHA's Rookie of the Week award twice and was named the league's Rookie and Forward of the Month.
Highlights of the Oskarshamn, Sweden native's last month of play include scoring twice on the penalty shot and a four-assist game in the Buckeyes' 4-2 comeback win over St. Cloud State.
