Program posts single-year score of 94
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Graduation Success Rate data released Wednesday by the NCAA shows Ohio State's student-athletes and athletics programs continue to record outstanding academic results. In the most recent report, the Buckeyes posted single-year and four-year rolling scores of 94 and 93, respectively. Those numbers remained the same for the third year in a row and are the highest in school history.
The NCAA established the GSR in 2002 as a means of understanding student-athletes' academic completion rates more concretely. It does so by accounting for two groups that play an increasingly prominent role in collegiate athletics: mid-year, first-time enrollees and transfers. This year's numbers include the 2015-16 to 2018-19 freshman cohorts.
"The consistency of Ohio State student-athletes stands out as they maintained a one-year GSR mark of 94 and a four-year mark of 93," Faculty Athletics Representative John E. Davidson said. "These high scores reflect a culture of care that values academic achievement as a prime component of the world-class student-athlete experience."
Twenty-three Ohio State teams had a GSR of 90 or better, including 15 with a perfect 100.

Artistic swimming, women's cross country/track and field, men's fencing, women's fencing, field hockey, men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse, pistol, rifle, women's soccer, softball men's tennis, women's tennis and wrestling all had a 100 in the GSR.
Â
Eight programs recorded GSR scores of 90 or better: baseball, men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's swimming and diving, men's volleyball and women's volleyball.
Â
In all, 25 teams maintained or improved their score from the previous year, including 12 teams who maintained a perfect score, or improved upon the prior year.
Â
"That two-thirds of the 25 teams maintaining or improving on last year's score attained a perfect 100 speaks to the commitment of coaches, the support of the SASSO staff, and, most of all, the incredible dedication of student-athletes to succeed to the utmost of their abilities in all their endeavors," Davidson said
The football program maintained the program-best score of 89 it recorded last year, the fourth year it improved or maintained its GSR.
