Ryan Day, Ohio State head coach
On the team's approach to the game…
"I think we had the right approach coming in. We found out this morning that Nico [Iamaleava] may be out, so that sort of changed things a little bit, just in terms of our approach and our game planning, but not in terms of our mindset and mentality. That's the thing that we want to make sure, as we've talked about before, to bring it every day and have that look in our eye."
On Brandon Inniss and what he means to the team…
"Brandon is a captain and has a big voice. He's a very competitive guy and sort of has the heart and soul that you want as a captain. I think he's a very good football player. He can do a lot of things."
On the 100-yard return by Lorenzo Styles Jr.…
"With Lorenzo, you could see the speed. He was rolling, but it takes buy in from everybody. We assign each special teams unit to a coach, and Nate Ebner has that group, and I thought he did a great job. First off, you have to get buy in from the players. They have to believe that it's going to g, so it's just a mindset of guys doing their job, and special teams can flip a game like that."
Tim Skipper, UCLA interim head coach
On the Buckeyes' performance...
"Playing the number one team in the country, you're fighting for everything."
On Ohio State's fast start...
"Ohio State was straining. They were doing a good job of that. It was a battle for us. I mean, it is what it is, but there was no quit."
On Lorenzo Styles Jr.'s kickoff return touchdown...
"So we kind of kicked it in the corner, they returned it back to the field, and our guys got pinned over there in the corner, and it was just free racing. I think it was a no-DNA touchdown; I don't think anybody touched him."
Julian Sayin, Ohio State quarterback
On how he has evolved over the last two weeks
"I think just getting more comfortable in the offense. I think we were doing some different things tonight, spread the ball around, going, playing with tempo, playing with quick game. And I think it was a good thing for us."
On how good it was to see the depth of the offense in this game…
"The running backs did a really good job, but we showed a lot of depth there and the receiver room looked good tonight. I mean, those younger guys really stepped up for us big and you know, whether they were blocking or making big time catches to convert on third down and fourth down. It was awesome to see their work paying off."
On where he is trying to be better…
"I think all around I can be better. I can be getting through my reads quicker, helping us have protection a little better. Just helping us out the run game more, and all around, just trying to improve and keep growing my game to the next level."
On how beneficial the support of Brandon Inniss is and what he brings to the locker room…
"Yeah, Brandon Inniss is a captain for us, and he shows up every day. So, we know when we had a play design formulated, we got a certain coverage, and I know he's going to win. I have a lot of faith in him. He made a great catch on that third or fourth down, and he made another fourth down conversion. So, I think this whole offense has a ton of belief and faith in him, and you know, he's a captain, he's a leader for us, and he brings a lot of juice to the offense."
Lorenzo Styles Jr., Ohio State cornerback
On how he feels about breaking the 15-yearkickoff return for touchdown drought...
"It feels great. A lot of credit to my coaches and my teammates for the work that they put in."
On when he thought he was going to return the kickoff for the touchdown...
"I thought I was taking it to the house when I first got the ball, that's what I told myself."
On the importance of making big plays on special teams...
"It's just doing your job, and that applies to special teams. You never know what's gonna hit or where the ball will land. Getting the ball back is the biggest thing, but taking it to the house was the icing on the cake."
Caden Curry, Ohio State defensive end
On playing against a backup quarterback...
"It kind of sucks when you prepare all week for somebody, but they play somebody else. But, that's not our problem, so we just had to play our game and be ready for whatever came ahead."
On his blocked punt...
"That was probably it (the easiest punt block he's ever had). I'm gonna claim that I was an intimidation factor. I was in that big spot and he put it there, so I'll take it."
On playing for Matt Patricia...
"He's a great guy that we can go and talk to day in and day out. If we have a question, he's happy to answer. He's just a player's coach, and we all love him here."
On the ascension of Kenyatta Jackson...
"I see the way that he works throughout the week. He's pushing to be one of those great defensive ends as he already is. He's definitely getting to the point in his game where he's more aggressive in the way he plays. He's definitely going to get to many more quarterbacks."
James Peoples, Ohio State running back
On his hurdle during his 19-yard touchdown run...
"I actually had a hurdle in high school and I had actually done it a few times, but I had never done it in college. That's actually my second one, because I had one against Grambling, but this one actually worked."
On his mindset before the hurdle...
"I feel like it's just instinct. I feel like sometimes you try to gauge it, you try to arrange it, but i mean, at the end of the day, it's just instinct. When I saw him kind of go low, I just went high and that's all."
On Ohio State's successful running attack...
"I feel like we came in to attack really fast, and I feel like also the O-line and the tight ends came together. I think guys are just playing as one, rocking off the ball, getting after UCLA. I just felt like everybody was really playing together and for each other today."
On how he can build on his successful night...
"A game like this, it means everything. Even from the start of the season, with all the ups and downs, it comes with football. Just growing, you know? Growing as a person, as a player, and each day coming to work. Like you said, it may not be going the way I intended it to go, but that's life, and at the end of the day, you just got to keep going."
Brandon Inniss, Ohio State wide receiver
On young guys stepping up...
"We know we have a lot of young guys that haven't played a lot. They had to step up. I feel like they did pretty good tonight. Bryson (Rodgers) had some good plays. Mylan (Graham) had some good plays. You know we got a deep room here, and we've been coached."
On his career-best performance...
"It feels good. It feels really good. I had some pretty good plays tonight. Feels good. It adds to my confidence. I already have a high confidence, but it just has to continue."
