Nate Ebner joined the Ohio State coaching staff as a quality control coach working with the special teams in March of 2025. He brings to the staff a wealth of NFL-level special teams experience, having played nine years for the New England Patriot and another two for the New York Giants. His 149-game NFL career included 106 tackles, second-team All-Pro honors in 2016 and three Super Bowl victories with New England.
Ebner, who was drafted by New England in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, was a standout on special teams for the Buckeye football team after initially walking on to the team in 2009. He ultimately earned Varsity O letters in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He played in 36 games and recorded 30 special teams tackles.
Ebner was also a world class rugby player, first on U.S. U19 and U20 age-group level teams and then as part of the team USA’s rugy sevens team that competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
