
Buckeyes Set New Shutout Streak in 1-1 Draw at Michigan State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State and Michigan State battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon in East Lansing. Sophomore Berkley Mape scored late in the first half for the Buckeyes, while Michigan State equalized midway through the second to split the points in Big Ten play.
With the result, the Buckeyes remain unbeaten in their last 10 matches and are now 5-1-6 on the year and 1-0-5 in Big Ten play. Goalkeeper Molly Pritchard anchored the defense once again, recording five key saves to preserve the tie.
Before Michigan State's equalizer, Ohio State's back line achieved a program milestone. The Buckeyes entered the match 9:11 away from breaking the longest shutout streak in program history (678:16)—and surpassed it early in the first half. The new mark of 739:26 officially sets a new program record, eclipsing the previous streak set in 2017.
Ohio State opened the scoring in the 44th minute when Netta-Nina Hiltunen played a perfectly placed ball into the box that found Mape, who finished low to the right corner to give the Buckeyes a 1–0 lead heading into halftime. The goal marked Mape's second of the season.
Michigan State responded in the 61st minute when Bella Najera fired home a shot from the top center of the box off assists from Kayla Briggs and Renee Watson, leveling the match at 1–1.
The contest featured physical play from both sides, with multiple fouls and yellow cards issued throughout has there a total of five yellow cards issued in the match.
Both teams created chances late, but Pritchard's composed goalkeeping and disciplined back-line play ensured Ohio State left with a road point and a new defensive milestone in program history.
