Myles Martin
Wrestling, 2016-19
Myles Martin captained the Buckeyes in 2017 and 2018 and earned letters from 2016-19. As a freshman in 2017, he earned the NCAA title at 174 pounds before moving up to 184, where he took second in 2018 and third in 2019. He also won the Big Ten title at 184 in 2019.
An All-Big Ten selection in 2019, Martin led the Buckeyes in individual victories in 2019 with 29, in 2018 with 30 and as a freshman with 33 in 2016.
His freshman season was remarkable. After shedding his redshirt at the start of 2016, Martin proceeded to place third in the Big Ten Championships before entering the NCAA Tournament as the No. 11 seed.
After advancing to the title match against top seed Bo Nickal of Penn State, Martin avenged a loss in the Big Ten Championships by winning the NCAA title with an 11-9 victory. He became, at the time, the 15th true freshman in history and the first Buckeye to become an NCAA champion while being the first 11 seed to win a title.
