The Buckeyes began alumni weekend on Friday evening with a loss to Rutgers.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (3-16, 0-11 B1G) fell in three sets (17-25, 17-25, 19-25) to Rutgers (11-12, 2-9 B1G) on Friday evening inside the Covelli Center for the beginning of alumni weekend.
Rutgers scored the final five points of the first set to win by a 25-17 margin. The Scarlet Knights gained a 2-0 advantage in the match by winning the second set by the same score. Rutgers closed the match with a 25-19 win in the third set.

- S1: Kaia Castle put Ohio State on the board first before Rutgers gained an 8-5 advantage. The Buckeyes recorded back-to-back blocks to tie the set at eight. Each team scored a couple points to trade the lead and the Scarlet Knights held the 15-13 advantage at the media timeout. Rutgers held a lead for the remainder of the set and scored the final five points to win by a 25-17 margin.
- S2: Rutgers opened scoring in the set and built an early 8-4 lead to prompt an Ohio State timeout. The Buckeyes cut their deficit to one out of the media timeout, but the Scarlet Knights used a 5-0 run to stretch their lead to 16-10. Ohio State couldn't string together more than two unanswered points and Rutgers won the set by a 25-17 margin.
- S3: The Scarlet Knights scored first and opened up a 10-5 lead following a 6-0 run. The Buckeyes responded to get within two at 14-12 on a kill from Reese Wuebker, but Rutgers scored the next four points to extend its lead to 18-12. Ohio State scored back-to-back points to cut its deficit to 22-19 but fell by a 25-19 margin in the set.
- The Buckeyes had 11 players see the court tonight.
- Mia Tuman recorded the 2,600th assist of her career in tonight's match. Tuman owns 2,611 career assists and is just 10 assists away from tying for the 11th-most assists in program history.
- Reese Wuebker (9) and Ashley Carr (8) led the team in kills.
- Olivia Hasbrook led the Buckeyes with eight digs. She also tallied two aces, her sixth match of the season with more than one ace.
- S1: The Buckeyes had four different players record at least two kills apiece during the set as the set featured nine ties and three lead changes.
- Ohio State hosts No. 11 Wisconsin on Sunday for a noon match to wrap up alumni weekend. The match will be broadcast live on BTN. Fans are encouraged to wear white and stay after the match for a meet-and-greet with the team.
