Buckeyes Fall to Iowa in Double Overtime

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team (7-9, 3-5 Big Ten) was defeated by No. 10 Iowa (12-4, 5-3 Big Ten), 3-2, in double overtime on Friday.
The Buckeyes celebrated Senior Day following the game. They honored Zella Bailey, MaKayla Carahaly, Katie Fichtner, Riley Hudson, Loryn Jordon, Lindsey Roberts, Olivia Wallace and Makenna Webster.

Game Recap
- The Hawkeyes got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead about nine and a half minutes into the first quarter.
- The second quarter was a defensive battle between Ohio State and Iowa and the score remained 1-0, with the Hawkeyes in the lead, going into halftime.
- A little over five minutes into the third quarter, the Hawkeyes scored again to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Buckeyes answered at 38:31, converting on a penalty corner. Fichtner was the goal scorer and she was assisted by Webster and Anne Marie Krebs.
- Krebs scored the equalizer with less than three minutes to go in the third quarter.
- The teams traded possession in the fourth quarter, but the score remained tied, 2-2, to send the game into overtime.
- In the first overtime period, goalie Maddie Stevens made a save to keep the Hawkeyes off the board and the score remained 2-2 to push the game to double overtime.
- Stevens made two big saves in the first three minutes of the second overtime period, but the Hawkeyes scored at 74:40 to win the game, 3-2.

- Stevens (7-9) made five saves.
- Webster's assist was her team-high sixth of the season.
- Fichtner's goal was her fourth of the season and Krebs' was her second.
- The Buckeyes led in penalty corners, 11-4.
