COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 Ohio State women’s soccer team makes the short trip east this week for two crucial Big Ten matches, first at Rutgers on Thursday at 7 p.m. and then at Maryland on Sunday at noon. Both will be streamed live on B1G+.
- The Buckeyes enter the road swing after a narrow 1–0 defeat to Washington in their final home match of the regular season.
- This season, Ohio State has outscored its opponents 16-5 on the year and is No. 1 in the country in goals-against average at 0.357.
- Molly Pritchard has eight shutouts this season and 30 for her, which is the most in program history.
- On offense, Amanda Schlueter leads the team with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Ava Bramblett, who has scored three goals, was named to the Hermann Award Midseason Watch List.
- Record wise against the two opponents, Ohio State is 0-11-2 all-time against Rutgers but the opposite against Maryland, holding an 11-0-2 record against the Terrapins.
Scouting Rutgers
- Rutgers enters the week with a 3-6-4 overall record and a 1-6-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 3-0 loss at Northwestern on Sunday in Evanston, where the Wildcats scored twice in the opening 20 minutes and added another early in the second half to seal the match.
- Rutgers has allowed just 16 goals through 13 matches—six fewer than at this point last season. Goalkeeping remains a key strength for the Scarlet Knights, led by veteran Olivia Bodmer, who recently became the ninth player in program history to record 200 career saves.
- Ohio State has not beaten Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights hold an 11-0-2 mark all-time against the Buckeyes. The most recent meeting was a 1-0 Rutgers win in Columbus during the 2023 season.
Scouting Maryland
- Maryland enters the week with a 6-9-0 overall record and a 2-6-0 mark in Big Ten play after closing its Midwest road trip with a 2-0 loss at Nebraska on Sunday. The Cornhuskers outshot the Terrapins 29-6, converting on a first-half penalty kick and adding a second goal midway through the second half.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Faith Luckey turned in a standout performance despite the result, facing a career-high 29 shots and recording a career-best 10 saves to keep Maryland within reach. Luckey’s consistency in the net has been a bright spot for the Terps, who return to College Park this week boasting a strong 6-2-0 home record.
- The Buckeyes are 11-0-2 against the Terrapins, having faced Maryland every year since the Terrapins joined the league in 2014. The last trip to Maryland in 2023 was a memorable one for head coach Lori Walker Hock as Christin Baumbick scored with less than a minute to play to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 victory. The win was the 300th of Walker-Hock’s career.
