
No. 11 Buckeyes Set to Host No. 2 Spartans in B1G Series

Teams will meet Thursday and Friday in Value City Arena
The Basics
- The No. 11 Ohio State men's hockey team is set to host No. 2 Michigan State in a Big Ten series this week in Columbus, Ohio.Â
- The teams will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. Friday in Value City Arena.
- The Thursday contest will be televised by BTN and the Fox Sports app and Friday will be streamed through B1G+. Ohio State Radio will carry both games (1460 AM, Ohio State Buckeyes app and website) and live stats will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- Ohio State, 15-7-2 this season with an 8-5-1 2-2-0 (25 points/3rd place) B1G ledger, is coming off a tie (shootout loss) and overtime loss at Penn State. Last week, Michigan State posted a victory at home and a tie (shootout win) on the road against Michigan. The Spartans are 20-3-3 overall and 11-2-3 2-1-2 in the B1G (37 points, 1st place).
- At Thursday's game, 500 crewnecks will be given out to Ohio State students. Fans are encouraged to wear white.Â
- Also for Thursday, a new Fan Value Bundle is available for purchase online through OhioStateBuckeyes.com. A $25 purchase includes a game ticket, $10 at the concession stands and a Chiller Ice Rink skate pass
- Friday, Script Ohio on Ice will be performed at the first intermission.
- Single game, miniplan and group tickets are all available now. Ticket information and purchasing options are online and fans can also contact the Ohio State Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-GOBUCKS (select Option 2, then Option 2) or Athletic.tix@osu.edu. Customer service representatives are available via phone Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.Â
- Parking is free for all men's hockey home games.
- Ohio State is No. 11 in the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live rankings this week, its 14th-consecutive poll in the Top 20.
- The Buckeyes are in the Top 16 in the NCAA in scoring defense (2.38 goals allowed per game), scoring offense (3.25 gpg), scoring margin (+.88) and winning percentage (.667).
- Four Buckeyes have hit the 20-point mark. Gunnarwolfe Fontaine is first with 25, Riley Thompson has 21 and Aiden Hansen-Bukata and Davis Burnside each have 20.Â
- Fontaine leads the team with 11 goals, followed by Thompson with 10. Hansen-Bukata has a team-high 19 assists and is fifth nationally in assists per game (.86). Fontaine is 11th in the NCAA with six power play goals.Â
- Goalie Kristoffer Eberly is fourth nationally in goalie winning percentage (.821) and 16th in goals-against average (2.11).
- Ohio State trails the all-time series with Michigan State, 57-100-13 and in Columbus, the Spartans have the lead in the series, 40-29-6.Â
- The teams met in East Lansing Nov. 8-9 and the Spartans posted a sweep with 4-2 and 4-1 wins.
- The last series in Columbus was Nov. 3-4, 2023, when the Spartans notched 6-0 and 6-4 victories.Â
- Three Buckeyes - Kristoffer Eberly (Pinckney), Patrick Guzzo (Marysville) and John Larkin (Northville) - are natives of the state of Michigan.
- Patrick Guzzo leads the current Buckeyes with 18 games played against Michigan State, while Joe Dunlap has appeared in 14 games and Davis Burnside has skated in 11 contests. Dunlap has a Buckeye-best five goals against Michigan State and Guzzo and Burnside are second with four. Guzzo also has a team-high five assists and nine points vs, MSU, followed by Dunlap (5g, 2a) and Burnside (4g, 3a) with seven points each.Â
