Buckeyes Sweep Louisville 4-0, Advance to Kickoff Weekend Championship Match

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State opened the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 4-0 sweep of previously unbeaten Louisville on Saturday morning at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The Buckeyes advance to the championship match on Sunday and will face Princeton at noon. The Tigers swept Denver in the other opening round match on Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State is now 32-1 in Kickoff Weekend matches and has beaten Louisville 11 consecutive times.
Doubles
- Brandon Carpico and Will Jansen sprinted to a 6-0 win on court three to post the first doubles win.
- Bryce Nakashima and Preston Stearns then won the race for the second win as they beat Hamza El Amine and Miguel Avendaño on court two. That was just ahead of Aidan Kim and Nikita Filin could finish on court one as they led 5-2.
Singles
- The singles matches were just as dominant. Chris Li beat Enrique Pena 6-2, 6-1 on court five for the second point of the match.
- Jack Anthrop beat Avendano 6-1, 6-2 for the third point and Aidan Kim would roll to a 6-3, 6-1 win on court one to provide the clinching point.
- The match lasted just one hour and 52 minutes.
