Ohio State downed Cleveland State and Bellarmine in Columbus Monday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's tennis team opened its 2025 dual season with two shutouts, downing both Cleveland State and Bellarmine 7-0 in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center Monday.

The Buckeyes did not drop a set in the two victories. Teah Chavez, Nao Nishino, Luciana Perry and Dani Schoenly were all 2-0 in singles on the day. Nishino and Audrey Spencer teamed up for a 2-0 doubles mark to lead the way.

The Buckeyes will head to Knoxville, Tenn., for ITA Kickoff Weekend Friday and Saturday. Ohio State will take on NC State in the first round and either Tennessee or Texas Tech on day two. The site winner will advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, held Feb. 7-9 in Evanston, Ill.

- Chavez clinched the win as she notched a 6-2, 6-0 victory on court two, followed quickly by a 6-1, 6-2 win from Shelly Bereznyak on court three.
- On court one, No. 8-ranked Perry took the first set 6-2 and then won the second 7-5, capturing five of the last six games.
- Megan Basil closed out the shutout, as she prevailed 6-2, 7-5 on court six.
- Schoenly and Basil both notched their first collegiate dual wins.
- The Buckeyes are 9-0 all-time vs. the Vikings.
- A 6-1 victory on court three from Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino and a 6-2 win by Sydni Ratliff and Dani Schoenly on court one gave the Buckeyes the doubles point and 1-0 lead.
- Teah Chavez and Nishino, on courts two and four respectively, each dropped just one game en route to victory.
- Ratliff clinched the team win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court three.
- Freshman Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev picked up a win in her first collegiate dual match, posting a victory on court six, 6-2, 6-0.
- On court one, Luciana Perry won the final nine games in her match for a 6-4, 6-0 victory.
- Schoenly closed out the win with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court five.
- The match, which took an hour and 45 minutes, was the first between the Buckeyes and Knights.
