Bonus Points Key in 34-10 Win over No. 25 Boilers

The Buckeyes benefited from several bonus-point matches, which included pins for Ohio State at 149, 165 and 174. In all, Ohio State added bonus points in seven matches to down the Boilermakers.Â

125-No. 1 Matt Ramos (PUR) def. No. 11 Brendan McCrone (OSU) | D, 3-0
Neither wrestler scored in the opening period. Ramos got the opening takedown in the second for a 3-0 lead heading to the final two minutes. Ramos did not allow a score in the final period to win by decision, 3-0.
133-No. 10 Nic Bouzakis (OSU) def. Dustin Norris (PUR) | MD, 15-3
Bouzakis got a quick takedown and two nearfall points for a 5-1 lead after a Norris escape. Bouzakis added another takedown to lead 8-1 after three minutes. Bouzakis scored  a reversal to open the second for a 10-1 lead after five minutes. After a late penalty point for a Purdue stall call in the second, Norris escaped early in the third to make it 11-2 Buckeyes. Bouzakis added a takedown and a point for riding time for a 15-3 major decision victory.Â
141-No. 1 Jesse Mendez (OSU) def. Greyson Clark (PUR) | MD, 13-2
Mendez scored a takedown midway through the opening period before adding three more nearfall points to lead 6-0 going to the second. Clark earned an escape point to trail 6-1 going to the third. Starting from bottom, Mendez scored a reversal and a stalling point followed by a Clark escape. After another takedown, Mendez led 12-2 and with a point for riding time, won by major decision, 13-2.Â

D'Emilio put the first points on the board with a takedown a minute into the first period. With another takedown and a four-point nearfall, D'Emilio led 10-1 headed to the second. Starting neutral, D'Emilio added another takedown. Then at 4:51, D'Emilio scored the fall. Â

157-No. 7 Joey Blaze (PUR) def. No. 17 Sammy Sasso (OSU) | D, 5-1
Blaze scored first with a takedown to lead 3-0 after the opening period. Purdue added an escape point early in the second for a 4-0 lead after five minutes. Blaze was called for stalling to make it 4-1 Purdue. With a point for riding time, Blaze got the 5-1 win by decision. Â
165-No. 9 Paddy Gallagher (OSU) def. Stoney Buell (PUR) | F, 2:58
After a scramble, Gallagher scored the first takedown of the bout for a 3-0 lead. Buell added an escape and a takedown but Gallagher countered with a reversal before getting the fall at 2:58.Â

174-No. 6 Carson Kharchla (OSU) def. No. 25 Brody Baumann (PUR) | F, 6:00
Kharchla led 6-1 after the first period with a pair of takedowns around a Baumann escape. Kharchla added an escape point to open the second before adding a late takedown for a 10-1 lead before the start of the third period. After a Baumann escape, Kharchla added a takedown before getting the pin at 6:00.Â

184-No. 19 Ryder Rogotzke (OSU) def. Orlando Cruz (PUR) | D, 7-1
After the opening period, Rogotzke led 3-0. Cruz added an escape point in the second before a Rogotzke late takedown made it 6-1 Buckeyes after the first two periods. Rogotzke added an escape point in the third to win by decision, 7-1.
197-Ben Vanadia (PUR) def. Gavin Bell (OSU) | MD, 17-5
Vanadia led 6-1 after the first period with a pair of takedowns. Bell scored a two-point nearfall before a Vanadia reversal made it 8-3 Boilers after two periods. Vanadia added an escape and takedown early in the third for a 12-3 lead. Vanadia finished off the bout to win by major decision, 17-5.
HWT-No. 7 Nick Feldman (OSU) def. Hayden Flipovich (PUR) | TF, 19-4
In the final bout of the afternoon, Feldman wasted little time in scoring the first two takedowns of the match for a 6-1 lead. Two more takedowns made it 12-3 Buckeyes after three minutes. Feldman escaped to open the second and added a takedown for a 16-3 lead. Another takedown made it 19-4 to win by technical fall.Â
