Ohio State has outscored its opponents 15-2 this season in its first three games

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Solid defense moved the No. 14 Ohio State Buckeyes to 3-0 on Friday with a shutout win over Colgate (0-2) by a 5-0 score. Senior Abby Danson recorded her 14th career shutout as the Raiders were held to only four shots.

How it Happened
After a scoreless first quarter, the Buckeyes took charge in the second, rattling off three-straight goals and holding Colgate to only one shot in the first half.

Ohio State opened scoring in the third quarter, finding the goal at the 36-minute mark. The fourth quarter saw one more Buckeye goal to lift the score to 5-0.

How The Goals Were Scored

The first goal of the match came from sophomore Brenna Bough in the first minute of the second quarter.
Bough scored again in the 19th minute off an assist by Makenna Webster.
Senior Hallie Brost scored less than a minute later to lift the Buckeyes to 3-0. Brost now has one goal on the season and 11 in her career.
Freshman Sienna Golden scored her first career goal as a Buckeye off an assist by from junior Loryn Jordon.
Senior Cameryn Forgash found the goal in the fourth quarter with six minutes left in the match. She was assisted by Webster and freshman Philippa Schipper.

Today's win marks the fourth-straight season the Buckeyes have won their first road match
Ohio State's 15 goals through the first three games of 2024 are the most since the 2000 season, where they tallied 17. The Buckeyes went on to reach the Big Ten Championship that year, where they fell to rival Michigan.
Danson now sits at 14 career shutouts, placing her tied for second on Ohio State's all-time list. Danson needs one more to tie first place Sue Wilson, who manned the goal for the Buckeyes from 1989-92.
Bough now has at least one goal in all three games this season
