Ohio native led Buckeyes to team win with second-place finish
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Redshirt freshman Jack Agnew, who led the Ohio State men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Tommy Evans Invitational last weekend in Akron, has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Agnew, from Bellbrook, Ohio, and Archbishop Carroll High School, finished the 6K in 18:13.1, less than two seconds back of first place. The meet was held at Silver Creek Cross Country Park in Norton, Ohio, also the host site for this year's NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships. Agnew was one of seven Buckeye men in the Top 10.
Ohio State will return to action Sept. 20 in the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
