
Buckeyes Undefeated in OSU Duals Sunday

Both men and women post 5-0 marks
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing program hosted the OSU Duals Sunday in French Field House. Both the Buckeye men and were 5-0 on the day, with victories over Oberlin, Cleveland State, Denison, Georgia Tech and the OSU Club Fencing team.

The Buckeye Men
- The men were 27-0 winners over Oberlin, downed Cleveland State 22-5, defeated Denison 26-1, topped Georgia Tech 25-2 and ended the day with a 23-4 victory over the OSU Club Team.
- All three weapon squads were undefeated.
- Foil led the way, not allowing a point in outscoring its opponents 45-0. Sabre was 42-3 on the day, with epee 36-9.
- In foil, Mitchell Huth was 12-0, with Samuel Freedman 9-0 and Isaac Ariza and Nathan Cheng both 8-0.
- For sabre, newcomer Eddie Maklin posted a 9-0 mark in his first collegiate duals, with Samuel Rightler and Hank Bauer both 8-0.
- Nowell Gibson paced the epee squad with a 10-2 ledger and Ayush Shah was second with an 8-1 record.Â
- For the women, the Buckeyes started the day with a 26-1 victory over Oberlin before defeating Cleveland State 22-5 and Denison 20-7. They wrapped up the duals with 26-1 wins against Georgia Tech and the OSU Club Team.
- The three weapon squads were all a perfect 5-0.
- Foil was a combined 42-3, with both sabre and epee 39-6.
- Miranda Freedman was 6-0 on the day in foil, with Raiyan Moradi-Bidhendi 6-2 and Anna Heiser 5-1.
- Grace Fan led sabre with a 9-2 mark and Hamsika Arnipalli was 7-2 in the event.
- In epee, Sally Fan was first for the Scarlet and Gray with a 7-2 ledger, Catherine Popa was 7-0, with Julia Semikin 5-0 and Talia Weiss 5-1.
