Ohio State opens Big Ten Play at Penn State Next Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 21 Ohio State (5-0-1) scored late Sunday for a 1-0 win over Butler (3-2-2) Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

How It Happened
Nick Skubis broke a scoreless match open when he got one to go passed Butler keeper Caleb Norris in the 73' off an assist from senior Deylen Vellios. Skubis has now scored on both shots he's taken this season and both have been game winners.

It was the fourth assist of the season and seventh career for Vellios.

Max Trejo made his third start of the season in goal and recorded his first shutout in 2024. Butler managed eight shots and just one on frame. Trejo has six career clean sheets and one combined.

Freshman Nick McHenry got his first start as a Buckeye on defense in place of Nathan Demian, who sat out the match with injury.

The remainder of the 2024 regular season will be against Big Ten Conference opponents starting Sept. 17 at Penn State. Match time is set for 6 p.m. with the Big Ten Network broadcasting the game to a national audience.
