Caden Brown was born into a hockey family, with his father, Jeff, playing professional hockey, including nearly 750 NHL contests. He began playing at a young age, influenced by his father, and never turned back. Growing up in St. Louis, Brown was a Blues fan, where his father played for four years. Though he was a Blues fan, Brown's favorite player as a kid was former Chicago Blackhawk, Patrick Kane.
While in St. Louis, Brown played for the Chesterfield Falcons before moving to Ottawa, Ontario, for three years, playing for local AAA teams. After his time in Ottawa, he moved back to St. Louis and played for the AAA Blues for two years. During his junior year of high school, Brown moved to Michigan to play for the United States National Team Development Program, where he spent two years. After his time with the NTDP, Brown went to the University of Wisconsin, and played for the Baders for one and a half seasons before going to the USHL. Brown then played for half of a season with the Waterloo Blackhawks before heading to Ohio State.
Moving around as a teenager isn't easy, but Brown shared he ultimately enjoyed his experience. He loved being able to live in different places, such as Ottawa, where his father is from. He also said, "It was cool to live the life that my dad lived growing up."
Alongside hockey, Brown is majoring in consumer family and financial services. Being an athlete and student at the same time is difficult, but he has been able to create a routine for himself to stay on top of his schoolwork. He said, "After practice, I spend the rest of my day focusing on my schoolwork and completing my assignments."
A fun fact about Brown is that he loves dogs and has two back home. He spends his summers hanging out with his friends and family. Brown also likes to play pickleball and golf during his time away from campus.Â
Hockey is a big part of Brown's life, but it is not all there is to him. He is a dog lover, and likes to hang out with friends. Alongside his time spent playing hockey, he is a typical college student, just like his peers. Brown enjoyed his first year as a Buckeye, and is excited for his future at Ohio State.
