East Carolina standout was a three-time captain for the Pirates
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Caroline Kimel has joined the Ohio State women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach, Amanda Moore, Buckeye head coach, announced. Kimel just wrapped up an outstanding collegiate career at East Carolina, where she set program records for career goals, assists and points.
Â
"Caroline is a tremendous competitor and student of the game," Moore, who coached Kimel for four years at ECU, said. "Her leadership experience as a three-time captain and her on-field play at X will be an incredible asset to her as she begins her collegiate coaching career. We're excited to welcome Caroline to the Buckeye Lacrosse Family."
Â
Kimel, a native of Durham, N.C., played and started 75 games for the Pirates from 2020-24 (missing just one game in the five-year stretch) and scored 130 goals, adding 105 assists for 235 points. She was a four-time All-American Athletic Conference honoree, one of the first three players in AAC history to earn all-league honors four times, including first-team accolades in both 2023 and '24. She also was named to the IWLCA All-Region team twice.
Â
A four-year letterwinner at Cardinal Gibbons High School, Kimel was part of four state championship teams. She had 281 points in her scholastic career (113 goals, 168 assists) and was named state championship and team MVP as a senior.
Â
Kimel earned her bachelor's degree in communications with a concentration in public relations in Spring 2023 before beginning work on a master's degree in strategic communication.
