COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Charlie Clark, a four-time All-American in the 1,650 freestyle and a two-time Big Ten Conference champion in the event, will return to the Ohio State men's swimming and diving team for a fifth season in 2024-25. Student-athletes who were on the 2019-20 roster can gain an extra season of eligibility if they so choose because of the season that was not able to be completed in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
From Sandusky High School and Perkins High School, Clark has been a top distance freestyle swimmer for the Buckeyes and nationally the past four years. He has won the Big Ten 1,650 free titles in 2022 and 2023 and was third this season. Additionally, he has two third-place podium finishes at the conference championship meet in the 500 freestyle.
He has swam in the A final of the 1,650 free at the NCAA championships four consecutive years, with high finishes of seventh in 2023 and eighth in 2022.
Clark won his first national championship in December at the Toyota U.S. Open while also turning in three U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying times. His national title came in the 800 freestyle. The win qualified Clark to compete for Team USA at the World Aquatics Championships this past February in Doha, Qatar.
National team experience for Clark also includes him competing for Team USA at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2023, and competing at the 2022 World Open Water Championships in Budapest, Hungary. He was also a member of a U.S. contingent that competed at the Duel in the Pool in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
