Two Buckeye Boats Advance to Petite Finals at NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On day two of the 2024 NCAA Championship regatta Saturday morning, the Ohio State rowing team advanced two boats to the petite finals and a third to the C final. The First and Second Varsity Eights will race for seventh through 12th place and the First Varsity Four will race for as high as 13th place at the national championship meet on Sunday.

The 1V4 won its C/D semifinal race with open water ahead of second-place Indiana. The Buckeyes were second at the 500m mark but surged ahead to take the lead for the remainder of the race. The team finished in a time of 7:28.894, a 4.793 second advantage over the Hoosiers. The 1V4 will race Boston, Duke, Virginia, Indiana and Gonzaga in Sunday's C final at 8:24 a.m.

The 2V8 finished the morning fifth in the first heat of the A/B semifinal in a time of 6:37.541. The Buckeyes will race Penn, Cal, Michigan, Brown and Virginia in Sunday's petite final at 9:48 a.m.

The 1V8 crossed the finish line in 6:26.795 for sixth in the first heat of the A/B semifinal. The boat will race Syracuse, Yale, Cal, Michigan and Penn in the petite final at 10:12 a.m. Sunday.
