Fioretto a Finalist for USFCA Collegiate Award

First-year Buckeye reached NCAA semifinals
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Luca Fioretto is a finalist for the USFCA Men's Sabre Collegiate Athlete of the Year award, the United States Fencing Coaches Association announced. The finalists were selected from member nominations of athletes and coaches from across NCAA divisions. Award winners will be selected by a vote of USFCA collegiate member coaches and announced during the week of May 8th.
In his first year as a Buckeye, Fioretto, from Rome, Italy, was an NCAA qualifier and reached the semifinals at the NCAA Championships, earning First Team All-America honors. At his first national championship, he was 18-5 in the preliminary rounds to earn the No. 3 seed. He was the sliver medalist at the NCAA Regionals and the CCFC Championships and earned First Team All-Midwest Region and First Team All-CCFC accolades. The helped the Buckeye men to the conference men's team and sabre squad titles and Ohio State placed sixth as a team at the NCAA Championships. Â
