
Buckeyes, McGinty in First Place After Two Rounds of Home Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team and Caley McGinty are in first place after the first two rounds of the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational at the OSU Scarlet Course on Saturday.
The Buckeyes' 36-hole score of 574 (-2) puts them in the lead after two rounds. The team combined for rounds of 291 (+3) and 283 (-5). Ohio State led the 12-team field in par 3 scoring (3.02) and par 4 scoring (4.17). The Buckeyes' 147 pars were the most of any team and their 28 birdies were tied for first.
McGinty fired two under-par rounds, carding a 71 (-1) in round one and a 68 (-4) in round two and she sits atop the leaderboard with an overall score of 139 (-5). Of the 75-players competing, McGinty is one of only two to shoot a round in the 60's and her 68 was the lowest round on the course on Saturday. She led the field in par 3 scoring, with a stroke average of 2.63. She had 25 pars and eight birdies on the day.
Kary Hollenbaugh is in third place after 36 holes. After carding a 73 (+1) in round one, she shaved three strokes off her score to shoot a 70 (-2) in round two and finish the day with score of 143 (-1). Hollenbaugh shot even par on 22 holes and notched eight birdies.
Faith Choi carded a first-round score of 74 (+2) and improved by three strokes in round two, carding a one-under 71. She is in fifth place with a 36-hole total of 145 (+1). Choi led the field in pars with 30.
Kailie Vongsaga is tied for ninth place. She carded a total score of 147 (+3) after shooting a 73 (+1) in round one and a 74 (+2) in round two. Vonsaga shot par on 25 holes and birdied four holes.
Jillian Bourdage carded rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 (+5) and finished the day tied for 18th with a score of 149 (+5). Bourdage recorded 25 pars.
Emily Hummer is in 65th place with a 36-hole score of 160 (+16). She shot 81 (+9) in round one and 79 (+7) in round two. Hummer shot even par on 20 holes.
Kavya Ajjarapu, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 61st place. She shot 82 (+10) in round one and shaved six strokes off her score to card a 76 (+4) in round two. She finished the day with a total score of 158 (+14).
The third and final round of the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational gets underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday, April 14.
