No. 16 Buckeyes Post 4-1 Win at Iowa

Ohio State improves to 14-6 on the year and is 7-1 in the B1G
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12 Ohio State women's tennis team used four straight-set singles wins to record a 4-1 road victory over Iowa Friday evening in Iowa City, Iowa. The Buckeyes improve to 14-6 this spring, with a 7-1 B1G record.
After Iowa earned the doubles point with a tiebreaker victory on court one, Ohio State took control in singles, claiming five of the six first sets. Luciana Perry, Sydni Ratliff, Shelly Bereznyak and Audrey Spencer all went on to won in straight sets for the team victory. Ratliff and Spencer also partnered for a doubles win.

How it Happened
- Iowa took the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. The Hawkeyes won the first completed match, as Marisa Schmidt and Nikita Vishwase downed Buckeyes Alessia Cau and Madeline Atway, 6-4, on court three.
- The other two matches went to a tiebreaker.
- On court two, the Buckeye tandem of Sydni Ratliff and Audrey Spencer prevailed over Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt, 7-6 (3).
- The Hawkeyes won on court one, 9-7, with Daianne Hayashida and Vipasha Mehra defeating No. 31-ranked Irina Cantos Siemers and Luciana Perry. The Buckeyes were down in the breaker 4-1 and fought to get back even, but were unable to hold off Iowa and the Hawkeyes took the match, 7-6 (7).
- Ohio State won five of six first sets in singles to take control of the match and captured four matches in straight sets for the team victory.
- No. 47-ranked Perry tied the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Schmidt on court two.
- No. 113 Sydni Ratliff and Shelly Bereznyak moved the Buckeyes within a point of the team match with wins on courts three and four, respectively.
- Ratliff topped Pokorna, 6-3, 6-1, and Bereznyak dropped just one game in each set vs. Kranholdt.
- Spencer clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Jessica Matthews on court six.
- Bereznyak has wins in her last 12 completed matches and leads the team with 12 dual match singles wins. Perry and Ratliff are both on four-match winning streaks and have eight dual wins this spring. Spencer is 9-4, with four straight victories.
