Buckeyes Win 27th Consecutive Match Over Purdue

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The beat goes on as top-ranked Ohio State wins again, sweeping Purdue 4-0 on Friday afternoon in West Lafayette.
The Buckeyes improved to 21-1 on the season and 3-0 in Big Ten play. This was the eighth consecutive sweep of Purdue and the 27 consecutive win overall against the Boilermakers.
Ohio State had little trouble with the double point, winning easily on courts one and two and was leading 5-3 on court three.
The Buckeyes then rolled that momentum into singles and got three straight-set wins to claim the match. Justin Boulais got the first win with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Soham Purohit on court two. JJ Tracy picked up his 26th singles win of the year with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Henrik Villanger on court three. The clinching point came from Alexander Bernard, as it has many times this season. He rolled past Juan David Velasquez 6-4, 6-2 for the Buckeyes’ 21st win of the year.
Cannon Kingsley dropped his first set on court one but rebounded with a dominating 6-0 win in the second set. Jack Anthrop was also in a third set when the match was clinched, and Reece Yakubov was up a set and on serve in the second set.
The Buckeyes will head a couple hours down the road to Bloomington to take on Indiana on Easter Sunday. The match is set for a noon start.
