COLUMBUS, Ohio – Top-ranked Ohio State will open Big Ten play this weekend by hosting Northwestern and No. 15 Illinois at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Buckeyes will play Northwestern on Friday at 6 p.m. and Illinois on Sunday at noon.
- The Buckeyes are starting the nine match Big Ten portion of the season and will be seeking their 18th consecutive regular season title.
- This will be the second meeting this season between Ohio State and Illinois. The Buckeyes won at Illinois 4-1 earlier this month on March 6.
- The Buckeyes have won 15 of the last 16 meetings with Illinois.
- Overall, Ohio State leads the all-time series with Illinois 58-54-1 and the Buckeyes are 34-14 against the Illini since Ty Tucker took over in 2000.
- The Buckeyes are 28-1 against Northwestern since 2000 and will be looking for its 23rd consecutive win over the Wildcats on Friday night.
- Last season, Ohio State lost the doubles point but then won four straight-set singles matches to claim a 4-1 victory at Northwestern in the team's lone meeting last season.
- The Buckeyes are 18-1 this season and solidly the No. 1 team in the country.
- They are 10-1 on the year against Top 25 ranked teams.
- Five Buckeyes are ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings, including four in the Top 25. JJ Tracy is ranked No. 12 while Jack Anthrop is No. 19, Cannon Kingsley is No. 22 and Justin Boulais is No. 25. Alexander Bernard rounds out the ranked Buckeyes at No. 99.
- In doubles, Ohio State has three ranked teams, Robert Cash and Tracy remain at No. 5 while Bernard and Tracy are No. 42 and Andrew Lutschaunig and Justin Boulais check in for the first time this season at No. 47.
- Robert Cash is in pursuit of the school's career doubles win record. He is just six wins behind Peter Kobelt's record of 139 wins. Cash currently is tied for Justin Kronauge with 133 career doubles wins.
- Cannon Kingsley is three singles wins from 100 in his career.
- Anthrop and Bernard are both unblemished at 14-0 this season in singles while Tracy is 14-1.
- Tracy also leads the team in doubles wins with 22.
