Women will complete events Friday, with men set for Saturday-Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The first day of the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships in Columbus is complete, with four Buckeye women representing Ohio State. Friday includes the final two rounds of women's round robin, along with the women's semifinals and finals. Â

The Schedule
In women's epee, Montserrat Viveros finished day one in sixth, with Yeva Mazur in 22nd. Viveros, now a four-time NCAA qualifier, was 9-6 through the first three rounds, with a +12 indicator. Mazur was 5-10 (-13). She is making her third appearance at the NCAA Championships.

In women's foil, Dasha Myroniuk stands in fifth place after the first day. A two-time national qualifier, she was 10-5 Thursday, with a +18 indicator. Alina Lee, now a three-time qualifier, is in 24th position.

The Format
At the championships, fencers compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts, facing the other 23 fencers in their weapon. After round-robin, the Top 4 finishers in each weapon will fence in semifinal 15-touch bouts, with winners fencing to determine first and second places and non-advancing fencers awarded a tie for third place. An institution's place finish in the championships will be based on points earned by each individual. A team will be awarded one point for each victory by its student-athletes during round-robin competition.

The Schedule
- The women will close their competition Friday, with the men's competition Saturday and Sunday. Preliminary rounds will be in French Field House, with semifinals and finals in St. John Arena.
- All three weapons are slated to start at 9 a.m. Friday and Sunday, with semifinal and championship bouts beginning at 1:30 p.m. The six semifinal bouts will be fenced on one strip, sequentially in order of epee, foil, sabre. Finals bouts will follow the semifinals, in the same order.
- For the men Saturday, epee will start at 9 a.m., with foil beginning at 11 a.m. and sabre at 1 p.m.
- Friday an awards ceremony for the women's individual champions and Top 8 finishers will follow the finals. Sunday the awards ceremony for the men's individual champions and Top 8 finishers and the Top 3 teams will follow the finals.Â
