COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

Jocelyn Amos | Women's Hockey | Fr. | Ailsa Craig, Ontario
- Amos made an immediate impact in the Buckeyes' NCAA Tournament record-tying performance against Minnesota Duluth last weekend.
- In her first NCAA Tournament game, the freshman scored just 22 seconds into the contest, recording what would become the game-winning goal of the Buckeyes' 9-0 victory.
- She added an assist on the team's fourth goal of the game, which was scored under 30 seconds into the second period.
- Amos finished the game with a career-high three points to help the Buckeyes win the NCAA Regional Final.
- Ohio State plays Clarkson Friday at 4 p.m. at the Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, N.H. in the 2024 Frozen Four. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Madeline Atway | Women's Tennis | Sr. | Powell, Ohio
- Atway won in singles and doubles to help the Buckeyes to a 4-2 road victory at Michigan State Sunday.
- The senior paired with Akanksha Bhan to clinch the doubles point. She then rallied for a three-set win to cinch the Ohio State team victory. After dropping the first set, she lost just one game thre est of the way, winning the sets 6-1 and 6-0.
- After two road matches this weekend, Atway and the Buckeyes will return to Columbus to host Maryland March 29 and Rutgers March 31.
McKenzie Bump | Softball | Sr. | Mt. Gilead, Ohio
- Bump swung one of the hottest bats for Ohio State last week as it won five of seven games to complete its spring break.
- Bump hit .450 with a double, a home run and drove in six runs while also scoring six runs of her own.
- Last Sunday, she went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in a 12-6 win at No. 23 Kentucky
- That was one of three multi-hit games for Bump last week; she also had two hits – including a home run – against Austin Peay and was 2-for-4 in a 10-8 win over South Dakota State.
- For the season, Bump is hitting .339 with two home runs and 10 RBI.
- Ohio State (16-8) opens Big Ten play this weekend when it travels to Rutgers for a three-game series beginning on Friday.
Zoe Coleman | Women's Lacrosse | So. | New Albany, Ohio
- Coleman had seven points, with four goals and three assists, in the Buckeyes' two games combined last weekend.
- Against Marquette, the sophomore had a career-high three goals and five points in the Buckeyes' victory.
- She added a goal and an assist vs. No. 3 Maryland Saturday. Coleman also had a ground ball in each game.
- The Buckeyes play at Johns Hopkins game Saturday before returning to Columbus for a Thursday night matchup vs. Penn State March 28 on BTN.
Jack Oldman | Men's Lacrosse | Fr. | Pickering, Ontario
- Oldman led the Buckeyes with a season high 17 wins on the faceoff in last week's 16-10 win over Detroit Mercy. He finished the day with a .810 win percentage.
- In the game against the Titans, he recorded another season-best for the Buckeyes with 14 ground balls. The freshman also tallied his first points as a Buckeye with a goal and an assist.
- Against Denver, Oldman added three wins at the faceoff X and three ground balls.
- The Buckeyes open conference play this weekend at home against No. 7 Penn State. The game starts at 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on BTN.
Parker Thackston | Men's Gymnastics | So. | Robbinsville, N.J.
- Thackston earned his first win of the season on pommel horse with a score of 14.700 on the road at No. 4 Illinois, just 0.050 shy of his career-high. This season he ranks 11th in the country on pommel horse with a four-score average of 14.017.
- Thackston also led off the Buckeyes on high bar, earning a career-high 13.500.
- Thackston was named Big Ten Co-Specialist of the Week on Monday for the first time.
Hank Thomas | Baseball | Sr. | Oxford, Ohio
- Hank Thomas was instrumental in helping the Buckeyes to a series win over West Virginia over the weekend.
- On Saturday, Thomas, who entered the game as a pinch hitter, came up big, hitting a two-run home run out of the park and sending the game-winning run home. Thomas also had an RBI single later in the game.
- Thomas had two more hits on Sunday as the Buckeyes defeated the Mountaineers, 26-11.
- Thomas is batting .385 so far this season with five hits, five RBIs and three runs scored.
Amaya Ugarte | Women's Track & Field | Sr. | Winter Garden, Fla.
- Ugarte broke the Ohio State outdoor high jump record by clearing an outdoor personal-best 1.85m / 6'0.75" to win the competition this past weekend at USF – the highest clearance in the country this past weekend.
- The previous program record had been set in 2002. The runner-up in the high jump at USF cleared just 1.70m / 5'7".
Shane Wetzel | Men's Volleyball | So. | Lake Mary, Florida
- Wetzel averaged 5.29 kills per set with a total of 37 last week against No. 13 Ball State (L, 1-3) and at Purdue Fort Wayne (L, 0-3)
- The sophomore hit .342 with just 13 errors on 70 swings
- He also added nine digs and four blocks while leading the No. 8 Buckeyes with 39.0 points.
- Ohio State is on the road this week at No. 13 Ball State Thursday (7 p.m./ESPN+)
