Three Buckeyes Qualify for NCAA Championships on Day One of Zones

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Ohio State divers punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships on the first day of NCAA Zones on Thursday.
Lena Hentschel, who won the 1-meter title at the Big Ten Championships, secured her spot to compete in the same event at NCAAs. Hentschel placed first in prelims with an aggregate score of 319.25. She placed second after finals, finishing the day with a total score of 605.50, just one point behind the first-place finisher, Anne Fowler from Indiana.
Clayton Chaplin and Lyle Yost both qualified to compete on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Championships. Chaplin (396.30) and Yost (378.55) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the preliminary round. Chaplin placed fourth in finals with a total score of 811.05 and Yost finished sixth with a total score of 765.40 for the day.
NCAA Zones continue at the Ralph Wright Natatorium at the University of Louisville March 15-16. The men will compete on the 1-meter and the women on the 3-meter on Friday and the platform dive for both men and women will be on Saturday.
