
Nelson and Rockwood Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards

Senior captains Kameron Nelson and Tyler Rockwood were honored for their performances on senior day.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly men's gymnastics awards on Monday. Senior captains Kameron Nelson and Tyler Rockwood were named Big Ten Gymnast and Big Ten Specialist of the Week, respectively. Both earned their first weekly Big Ten honor of their career for their showings in Saturday's dual meet win against No. 4 Michigan on senior day.

Nelson posted two event wins and career-highs in Saturday's meet. Nelson opened the meet with a career-high 14.800 and stuck his final pass on floor to win his second floor title of the season. He went on to win his first vault title of the season with a career-high 15.050 and the stick, becoming only the fifth gymnast in the country this season to earn a 15.000 or higher. Both scores were the highest for the Buckeyes' roster this season and contributed to the team's highest scores on floor and vault this season. Nelson also competed on rings. This season, Nelson ranks fourth in the country on floor (14.267), 11th on rings (13.733) and 23rd on vault (14.400).

Rockwood claimed the first event title of his career on Saturday by scoring a career-high 14.400 on parallel bars after sticking his dismount – the highest individual score for the Buckeyes this season as Ohio State totaled its highest score on parallel bars this season (68.250). Rockwood also tallied the second-highest rings score for the Buckeyes on Saturday. This season, he ranks 24th in the country on rings (13.400) and 23rd on parallel bars (13.617).
