The men’s hockey team defeated second-seeded Wisconsin in a three-game opening round series, winning Friday and Sunday by 3-1 scores, to advance to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals against Michigan State this Saturday.

The men’s basketball team improved to 5-1 under interim coach Jake Diebler with a 73-51 thumping of Rutgers in Piscataway that guaranteed the team a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament. Ohio State (19-12 overall; 9-11 Big Ten) will play Iowa Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Minneapolis in a game televised on the BTN.

The wrestling team placed fifth at the Big Ten championships as Jesse Mendez won the Big Ten title at 141 pounds.

The women’s hockey team, 32-4 overall, lost in the title game at the WCHA’s Final Faceoff, but the Buckeyes did earn the No. 1 overall seed in the 2024 NCAA championships for the third consecutive year. The team will play Saturday at 4 p.m. against either UMD or UConn.

The men’s gymnastics team (8-2 and 1-1 B1G) defeated Michigan, 412.150-407.400, Saturday on Senior Day.

Thirteen members of the fencing team placed in the Top 5 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Detroit Saturday with Edriss Ndiaye winning the men’s foil competition and Alina Lee (women’s foil) and Luca Fioretto (men’s saber) each placing second.

Men’s volleyball split matches on the road at USC and at UCLA in the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge and is now 15-5 on the year.

The men’s golf team is tied for second-place with Alabama, just three shots back of top-ranked North Carolina, at the Hayt Invitational being played at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verda, Fla. Senior Adam Wallin is tied for the lead at 4-under.
