- The top-ranked Buckeyes are 8-0 on the season and are coming off last weekend that saw them sweep No. 3 Virginia 7-0 and beat No. 13 Wake Forest 6-1.
- Ohio State also won the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Columbus two weekends ago, beating Vanderbilt and Boise State. Sunday’s match with South Carolina will be the final match before the Buckeyes head to the ITA Indoor Team National Championship in New York next weekend.
- The Buckeyes have won 56 consecutive home matches dating back to Jan. 21, 2021.
- This will be just the sixth all-time meeting between Ohio State and South Carolina. The Gamecocks lead the series 4-1 with the lone Buckeye win coming in the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
- Last season, South Carolina beat Ohio State 4-1 on March 8 in Columbia, S.C.
- The Gamecocks come into the weekend on a bit of a skid as they have dropped their last two matches. They started the year with a win over then No. 1 Virginia but has since lost to NC State and Wake Forest and sit at 3-2 overall.
- Ohio State has had back-to-back Big Ten Men’s Tennis Athletes of the Week. Justin Boulais claimed the award two weeks ago for leading the Buckeyes through the Kickoff Weekend and Cannon Kingsley won the award for last week as he was a 4-0 in the wins over Virginia and Wake Forest.
- The first singles and doubles rankings of the spring came out this week and the Buckeyes are well represented.
- Ohio State is the only school with three singles players in the Top 25 as JJ Tracy is No. 7, Jack Anthrop is No. 13 and Justin Boulais is No. 25. Cannon Kingsley checks in at No. 67 and Alexander Bernard is No. 86.
- In doubles, Tracy and Robert Cash are ranked No. 2 while Tracy and Bernard are No. 13 and Cash and freshman Bryce Nakashima are No. 35.
- Robert Cash is just 13 doubles wins shy of Peter Kobelt’s (2011-14) program record of 139 career doubles victories. Cash is 14-2 this season in doubles.
